Corporate Culture Change in Denver, Colorado

Many of our clients are looking for Corporate Culture Change in Denver, Colorado and beyond.

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast,” says Peter Drucker, author and business consultant. In other words, you can have the highest goals and best strategies in place, but if your culture is negative, the culture will win every time.

Is your organization clear about it’s culture? Do you reinforce the values you want to see in your culture every day? Do people LOVE working for your team or organization?

One of the biggest requests I receive as a facilitator is for culture change. When negativity, fear or conflict prevail in a workplace, employee engagement, productivity turnover become problematic.

I want to share some great ideas from a book I just read called “The Culture Engine.”
Most companies manage their employees for performance and results. In order to change culture, you also need to manage and coach for values alignment.

The process is as follows:
1. Decide on your team’s top 5 values (ideally with input from the whole team)
2. Define what that value means to the team
3. Describe the top 3-4 behaviors that would let you know that the value is being acted on
4. Hold your self and each other accountable to those behaviors every day
5. Share the success stories around your culture and values at weekly staff meetings

The most important part of this process is to create the specific, measurable behaviors that you can coach to. So, for example, if one of your team values is integrity, how would you know that integrity is present in the workplace? What would you measure? An example of behaviors that would demonstrate integrity would be:

1. I do what I promise to do, by when I promise to do it.
2. If I am unable to fulfil my agreements, I communicate as soon as possible to those who will be impacted.
3. I keep our team agreements, and I hold myself and others accountable to those agreements.
4. I agree to give and receive both positive and constructive feedback as a way to keep myself and our team on track.

With a definition of integrity in terms of actual behaviors, I and my team now know exactly what is needed to meet our team value of integrity. I can also hold myself and others accountable to those behaviors.

Defining and living the values of the culture you want to create is the best way to change the culture of your team or organization. Is it easy? It takes dedication and commitment to continuously practice the steps above – but it is worth it. You spend most of your waking life at work – make it a culture you want to be in!

We can support your organization with corporate culture change in Denver, Colorado and beyond.
