In an environment like that it is easy for innovation to be ignored.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>&#8220;We are too busy&#8221; is a common leader and workplace refrain.<\/strong>\u00a0Too busy to handle conflict well, to grow ourselves and our team, to have productive meetings and to laugh. Indeed, busyness might be the addiction of our age. It actually gives us a boost to run on adrenaline all day long.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So, ask yourself first of all &#8211;\u00a0<strong>when was the last time I had a truly inspired new idea?<\/strong>\u00a0When I was in the shower? Hiking in nature? Cooking dinner?<strong>Everyone needs those moments when we are in a more relaxed state and can get into a creative flow.<\/strong>\u00a0It helps us solve problems differently &#8211; as Einstein said &#8211; problems can&#8217;t be solved from the same level at which they were created. \u00a0So, get inspired!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>2. Focus on People<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A lot of leaders have gotten to the top because they were great achievers pushing their way towards results. It is common that\u00a0<strong>these leaders may have developed few people skills<\/strong>\u00a0because they have not focused on or valued developing their emotional intelligence.\u00a0<strong>Everything in the business world happens as a result of a relationship.<\/strong>Relationship with self, team members, clients, etc. According to MBTI research &#8211; more than HALF the population make decisions through their &#8220;feeling&#8221; function. In other words, they consider the impact of their decisions on other people. \u00a0Do you?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In your plan for 2015 consider<strong>\u00a0how you are growing your emotional intelligence skills.<\/strong>\u00a0This would include things that may seem basic but are underdeveloped in many leaders.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How well do you adapt your communication style to others?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do you get feedback from others that you are good listener &#8211; or not?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>How well do you get buy-in for your ideas?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do you focus on growing the people on your team to be their best?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do you intimidate others or do they feel comfortable sharing ideas with you?<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><b>3. Grow Yourself<\/b><\/div>\n<div><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div>As you know I believe that leadership is a path of growth.
